Demi Moore made her film debut in Choices (1981), portraying the protagonist’s girlfriend in this sports drama directed by Silvio Narizzano.
Although initially overlooked, the film later gained attention through home video releases that emphasized Moore’s early role after she rose to fame.
Her next film, the 3-D sci-fi horror Parasite (1982), came when director Charles Band specifically sought “the next Karen Allen” for the project.
By then, Moore had also joined the cast of the ABC soap General Hospital, where she played investigative reporter Jackie Templeton through 1983, further solidifying her screen presence.
Moore’s film career truly took off in 1984 with her role in the sex comedy Blame It on Rio, followed by a lead role opposite Jon Cryer in No Small Affair.
However, it was her performance in Joel Schumacher’s St. Elmo’s Fire (1985) that served as her commercial breakthrough.
Although the film received mixed reviews, it was a box-office success that brought Moore into the public eye.
Following The Scarlet Letter (1995), The Juror (1996), and G.I. Jane (1997), Demi Moore’s film output significantly declined as these projects failed to meet commercial expectations.
In the years that followed, she took on a mix of sporadic leading roles in arthouse films and supporting roles.
Demi Moore has been married three times. Her first marriage was to musician Freddy Moore, lasting from 1981 to 1985.
She then married actor Bruce Willis in 1987, a union that lasted until 2000 and resulted in three daughters. Moore’s third marriage was to Ashton Kutcher, which took place from 2005 to 2013.
In 2019, she released her memoir, Inside Out, which quickly became a New York Times Best Seller.
